Privacy Policy for SwiftBiu

SwiftBiu ("we," "our," or "us") built SwiftBiu as a commercial/freemium app for macOS. This Privacy Policy explains how we protect your privacy and handle information when you use SwiftBiu.

By using SwiftBiu, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Information We Protect & Handle

Text and File Processing (Local-First)

SwiftBiu is designed to run locally and respect your privacy.

  • Local Execution: All text selection, clipboard actions, OCR processing, and file drag workflows are processed entirely on your local Mac.
  • No Text or File Collection: We do not collect, store, or transmit your selected text, drag-and-drop files, or clipboard history to our servers.
  • External API Integrations: When you explicitly trigger actions that require external APIs (e.g., translation services, Gemini/OpenAI models, or external plugins), the necessary text or files are sent to those respective services to fulfill your request. These calls only happen on demand when you interact with those specific features.

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not require a SwiftBiu account, password, or profile.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.
  • We do not receive or store your payment-card number or full billing details.

Purchases, Licensing, and Device Management

  • App Store purchases: Apple processes the payment. Our license service receives only the Apple-signed transaction fields needed to verify and maintain the entitlement; it does not receive your Apple ID or password.
  • Official website purchases: Creem acts as the merchant of record and processes checkout information, payment, invoices, taxes, refunds, and disputes. See Creem's Privacy Notice.
  • Data retained by SwiftBiu: To deliver and support a website license, we store the checkout email in normalized plaintext together with Creem customer/order/transaction identifiers, product and payment status, the resulting License ID, email-delivery status, and security audit timestamps. This lets us send the purchase and activation information automatically and verify support requests using both email and order ID. The email is not used for marketing unless you separately opt in.
  • Devices: We store a generated device public-key fingerprint, an optional Mac display name and app version, activation timestamps, and ticket status. We do not store a hardware serial number. A signed entitlement capsule is also saved in your private iCloud database so your other Macs can activate without a SwiftBiu account.

Information Collected Automatically (Diagnostics & Store Actions)

  • App Store Diagnostics: If you choose to share diagnostics with Apple, we may receive anonymous crash logs and basic device info (macOS version, device type, app version) through App Store Connect.
  • Analytics: We do not include third-party user-tracking SDKs in the app.

2. How We Use Information

We use the minimal anonymous info collected via App Store Connect to:

  • Resolve bugs, crashes, and performance issues.
  • Improve compatibility across different macOS versions.
  • Optimize app speed and efficiency.
  • Verify purchases, email purchase and activation details, recover licenses, enforce the configured device limit, handle refunds or disputes, prevent duplicate/fraudulent activation, and provide support using email plus order ID.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal or usage information.

  • We do not share data with advertising networks or data brokers.
  • We only transmit request payloads to external service providers (e.g., AI/translation APIs) when you explicitly initiate an action.
  • Website checkout information is processed by Creem as merchant of record. We receive limited transaction events from Creem to deliver or revoke the corresponding license.

4. Data Security

Any local configuration, such as your custom plugins, history settings, and API keys, are stored securely on your local device:

  • API keys are stored securely using macOS Keychain.
  • All network communications to third-party APIs (triggered on-demand by you) use secure HTTPS/TLS encryption.
  • License activation uses HTTPS, signed server credentials, device-bound public keys, and one-way hashes for activation codes. Secret payment and signing keys remain server-side.
  • Purchase emails are stored in the license database as ordinary normalized text rather than encrypted fields. Database, backup, and administration access is restricted; API and application logs redact customer email addresses and never record activation-code plaintext.

5. Your Privacy Choices

You may ask us to access, correct, or delete license-support data associated with a verified Creem order, subject to fraud-prevention, accounting, tax, dispute, and other legal retention requirements. 6. Children's Privacy

SwiftBiu does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since all text and files remain on your local Mac, children's privacy is protected at the source.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document and hosting the updated policy on our website.
